Agency of the Month – Belmont Child Care Association
Providing a Safe and Stimulating Learning Environment
On a recent summer morning, some preschoolers at Anna House, operated by Belmont Child Care Association (BCCA), were practicing for their upcoming graduation. Younger schoolmates played the part of the audience, clapping as each one stood. Anna House gives these children of the backstretch employees at Belmont Racetrack a winning start. This early childhood development center serves preschoolers from infancy to five-year-olds, as well as those from kindergarten through fourth grade in before and after school programs. Anna House provides a comprehensive educational program, operated by Bright Horizons, which is academically stimulating and offers children a safe place to learn and grow.
BCCA used 2017-18 Community Voices funding, made possible through the efforts of Senator Elaine Phillips and other legislators, to support their early childhood development program, which serves more than 70 children. The children are well-prepared for kindergarten; Anna House has a science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) program incorporated into its curriculum and offers cultural enrichment activities, such as trips into NYC for various events. The center operates 365 days a year and since it opened in 2003, over 1,000 children have attended the program. For more information, go to www.belmontchildcare.org.
